In 2004-2005 the METROPOL Group subsidiaries won a number of tenders announced by the Ministry of Natural Resources of the Russian Federation and the Government of the Republic of Buryatia for subsoil use of the deposits located in the Republic of Buryatia. The company has at once become one of the world leaders in zinc, lead and beryllium reserves, accumulating Zn 47%, Pb 24%, Be 80% of total Russia’s reserves.

Within the framework of mining and metallurgical programme the ”MBC Corporation” LLC managing company was established in September 2005, which in the long term will become the largest in Russia vertically-integrated specialized holding.

The MBC Corporation’s pilot project is the MBC RESOURCES, a specialized lead-zinc company which was formed in 2007 and which is under MBC Corporation management at present. The assets of the company include Ozerny and Kholodninsky mining and processing plants.

The MBC Corporation carries out extensive works on design and construction of modern mining and processing, and metallurgical complexes with own power supply and transport infrastructure.

The MBC Corporation’s basic produce will be zinc and lead concentrates, beryllium hydroxide, gold and silver.

The objective of the Corporation is to make the Company’s enterprises new leaders of the mining and metallurgical industry, responsible manufacturers and suppliers at the polymetals market.
